5-6 Impactful Boston indie-rock artist Elliot Page – performing solo acoustic songs from his project The Forest Effect. The Forest Effect has been favorably described as “if the guys from Dismemberment Plan met up at Wilco’s loft to play some Black Crowes covers.”
6-7 Ajda the Turkish Queen is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist living and making music in the Boston area since 1996. Originally from Houston, Texas, she was raised by a Turkish mother and American father. She is a founder of original music bands such as Black Fortress of Opium, Turkish Queen, and the Ronnie James Dio tribute AjDIO. Her influences include dark songstresses like PJ Harvey, Kristin Hersh, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. She plays guitar and mandolin in a style that is folky, gothy, and evocative of a sound that imagines the crossroads where Texas and Turkey meet.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Medford Arts Council, an agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
