performers

3-5 Alex Fam is a spirited folk singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose lyric-driven songs invite listeners on a journey of reflection and joy. Alex’s lyric-driven songs draw inspiration from nature, self-reflection, and a sense of childlike wonder. She masterfully combines violin, ukulele, and vocal looping with soothing vocals.

5-7pm Kier Byrnes & Friends play accordion fueled bluegrass, Americana and Celtic folk tunes with everything but the kitchen sink thrown in.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Medford Arts Council, an agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

community

The Medford Bicycle Commission is working with the City of Medford to build out a complete network of trails and on-street improvements that provide bike riders safe, useful and fun routes to get to the places they need to go.

Bike to the Sea is the organization behind the creation of the Northern Strand Community Trail that connects Everett, Malden, Revere, Saugus & Lynn–with trailheads just blocks away from Medford. We’ll be collaborating with the Medford Bicycle Advisory Commission and WalkMedford to show people how to access it and highlight it’s many attractions.

WalkMedford strives to make walking safer and easier to encourage better health, a cleaner environment and a vibrant community. We advocate making our streets and paths safe, convenient and attractive for everyone. We advocate for more walking as it benefits our health, our environment and our local economy. We advocate for better laws, traffic calming, enhanced enforcement, more sidewalks and signed crosswalks, education programs, community improvements designed for pedestrians, and increased funding to support these activities. In all cases, pedestrian safety and accessibility must recognize the needs of people of a diversity of mobility needs, as well as rectifying long standing environmental justice concerns.

New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA). A community of mountain bikers committed to creating epic riding experiences, preserving open space, and guiding the future of mountain biking in New England.

Cycle Life PT will be at the market starting at 3:30 to perform  “Bike Fit Checks” and Theragun demonstration!

Community Members, organized by Leah Grodstein, are planning guided rides to the Market! Check their facebook event for details.

4pm, 6pm Reimagym is a fun, quirky, LGBTQIA+ friendly fitness studio for people who don’t like the gym. We’re aiming for the people who typically don’t see themselves represented in mainstream fitness spaces. We are a community-based, queer and radically inclusive personal training and small group fitness studio. While at the farmers market, we’re offering an example of our group fitness classes.

3-5pm The UMass Extension Nutrition Education Program (NEP) provides individuals, families, and communities with the knowledge and skills for healthier eating through research-based nutrition education that makes a real difference. We will have recipes, a bean bag toss, and scavenger hunt with prizes!

Play with Us! MFN is Medford’s family support and parent education for all families who have a child birth to eight and who live or work in Medford. We are a free, comprehensive program that offers playgroups, parenting workshops, information & referral services, children’s assessments, a beautiful Family Center, individual consultation and leadership opportunities. Programs are held on weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays throughout the year. An MFN Activity tarp of gross motor play and parachute play will be set up during the market.

North Suburban WIC Program is doing their WIC Annual Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program coupon distribution at the Market
