Circle the Square – Virtually!

As usual, the Medford Farmers Market participated in Circle the Square, though this year it was virtually!

For our contribution, you can check out past live performances by local musicians, enjoy delicious recipes made from items found at the Medford Farmers Market, and learn how to cook with market ingredients, all on the Market’s web site at https://medfordfarmersmarket.org/more-medford-resources/circle-the-square/

This year Circle the Square has gone VIRTUAL on Saturday, September 12 from 1-5pm.

We have turned the Circle the Square Facebook page into a virtual “Medford Square”. Events on the “main stage” live stream on Facebook will include music, dance, and comedy performances. At the same time, other events will take place on the facebook pages and websites of other Medford cultural organizations. Visitors are welcome to stay and enjoy the live stream, or wander around a bit to view other community programs.

The primary stream of live performances will also be aired on Medford Community Media – both online and on TV.

Art installations, photo exhibits, and scavenger hunts in the “real word” leading up to the event will ensure that the community still has the opportunity to get out and enjoy art and activities in a safe way.

Can You Chip in Today?

This year, we have seen a 250% increase in SNAP usage at our market. We were able to increase our weekly match per household for the first half of the season, but without further funding, had to reduce it back down to $20 weekly. “We’re seeing a huge rise in SNAP match transactions, likely because of COVID-19 and its effect on employment and food security,” said Mike Quinn, board treasurer and outgoing board president. “This year we are on pace to exhaust our SNAP match budget before the season ends.
