SarahMANAGER’S MESSAGE: TOMATO CRAZY!

Some of you might be getting a little tired of the eggplant, tomatoes, and peppers that have been in abundance for the past month. You’re trying to find new ways to use those fresh, local vegetables and have gotten bored of your go-to recipes.

Just remember, though, that all of this will be gone in just a couple of months!! This is the time to eat yourself silly on the freshest possible vegetables that you can get all year. While you can get tomatoes during the winter, they can’t even compare to what you can get at the farmers market right now that was just picked that morning. Personally, I avoid buying tomatoes during the winter if I can because unripe tomatoes that have been shipped for thousands of miles just don’t taste like proper juicy, sun-ripened tomatoes!

Remember that when you’re trying to figure out what to do with the tomatoes you bought for the week. Keep it simple and have some tomato slices on toast, or even eat it like an apple and savor the juice dripping down your chin, since you certainly won’t get that with the supermarket tomatoes that you can buy during the rest of the year! If you’re so inclined, you can also buy a few extra tomatoes from the market for canning or frozen fresh sauce so that you can relish the taste of summer during the cold months. This is the time to go tomato-crazy!!!!

Cheers!
