SarahMANAGER’S MESSAGE:
MACARONS OR MACAROONS?

We have two types of incredible cookies at the Medford Farmers Market with very similar names but completely different tastes. Perche Patisserie turns out some tasty French almond cookies sandwiched with creative buttercream flavors. These are “macarons” (just one “O”)! Macarons are difficult to make well, but Perche has perfected them and always comes up with seasonally appropriate flavors that are impossible to resist. Pumpkin and salted caramel made an appearance last week, and I heard that she has plans for a salted maple (yum!!!) made with Ackermann’s maple. Looking forward to trying that one!

Macaroons (two “O”s) are craggy coconut cookies that are usually dipped in chocolate. Bagel Land sells them, and I highly recommend buying one macaroon and one macaron so you can well and truly tell the difference between the two.

Here’s a little more info about the difference between the two cookies.

Cheers!
Sarah, MFM market manager
