OVERVIEW
The Medford Farmers Market (MFM) Board seeks a resident of Medford or neighboring communities to assist in planning the 2013-2014 season of the Medford Winter Farmers Market and to be the market’s on-site manager for the winter season (November 1, 2013-March 6, 2014).  


This is a part-time position and requires managing market operations for 6 – 7 hours on Thursdays during the season, plus an additional 8 – 9 hours per week on non-market days. The market manager is responsible for daily operations of the weekly Medford Farmers Market on Thursdays for the 2013-2014 season beginning on Thursday, Dec 5 and ending on Thursday, March 6. The market’s operating hours are 3:00-7:00 pm every Thursday.  The manager will be required to participate in at least one training day and additional time dedicated to pre-market planning and advertisement.  Employment will end around March 12 after wrap up at the end of the season.


The manager sends out the weekly newsletter, maintains facebook page and attends board meetings on the third Tuesday of the month. The market manager is the “go-to” person for vendors and consumers during market hours. The job requires personal confidence and the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people.  The MFM Board relies on the market manager to be their liaison with and between all parties served by the market. The manager’s general responsibilities include: setting up and breaking down the market’s equipment each week including tables and chairs, fostering community support for the market, helping promote the market, keeping accurate weekly records of market activities and hours worked, and assisting customers and vendors. The manager is required to be available for the duration of the market season and be on-site at the market to assist vendors and consumers on market days. A successful manager will understand both the vendors’ and the consumers’ needs and work to meet these needs. The manager will be available to communicate quickly via email.  The manager will report to the president of the Medford Farmers Market board of directors.
